The COVID-19 daily case count in the sultanate dropped to less than 500 a day – on average – in the last ten days, easing pressure off overstretched hospitals and bringing hope for better control over the spread of the virus.
The total number of cases registered in the sultanate has now reached 293,954, including 3,753 deaths, after 4,912 new cases and 255 deaths were reported in the last ten days.
The total number of recoveries has also increased to 275,760, taking the recovery rate to 93.8 per cent. According to the Ministry of Health, 68 new patients were admitted to hospitals in a 24-hour period on Sunday, accounting for a total of 786 inpatients, including 315 in intensive care.
Meanwhile, the ministry resumed its National Immunisation Campaign against COVID-19 on Sunday. The campaign had been temporarily suspended during the Eid al Adha holidays.
