India thanks Oman for Unesco listing

After Unesco announced on Sunday that the Kakatiya Rudreshwara Ramappa Temple in the state of Karnataka in India was inscribed as a World Heritage Site, the Indian Embassy in Oman thanked the sultanate for its support. 

H E Munu Mahawar, Ambassador of India to the sultanate, had met H E Eng Ibrahim bin Said al Kharusi, Undersecretary for Heritage Affairs in the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, on July 13 seeking Oman’s support for India’s bid. 

“We thank the Government of Oman for its strong support,” the embassy tweeted. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the people of Telangana after the temple was inscribed as a World Heritage Site. Modi also urged citizens to visit the temple built during the rule of the Kakatiya dynasty.
