The Ministry of Health (MoH) has issued a clarification on temporarily closing down of Al Ghubra Health Centre and shifting of the patients to Al Khuwayr North Health Centre.
The Directorate General of Health Services in Muscat said the places for primary healthcare centres were selected after studying the population density and the geographical nature of those areas.
‘But after the outbreak of the pandemic, many challenges emerged, including the need for health services to be offered outside health centres such as vaccination centres, field hospitals, government hospitals, and examination centres at the airport. For these reasons, health services have been integrated at all wilayats.’
Reduction in services in some health centres ‘is a temporary solution and the decision to close the Al Ghubra Health Centre was based on a study’, the ministry stated.
‘The Al Khuwayr North Health Centre can accommodate patients in large numbers and through which social distancing can be maintained, in addition to the availability of several clinics to provide all services,’ the ministry statement added.
