An interesting exhibition of unique artworks by ten members of the Al Sumt art group concluded at the Art and Soul Gallery in Water Front mall at Shatti al Qurm yesterday.

The exhibition, titled ‘Tale of an artist’ showcases different interpretations of the time spent by artists during the lockdown period in Oman in view of the current COVID-19 pandemic. The artists, all belonging to Al Sumt, are also members of the Oman Society for Fine Arts, as well as The Youth Studio, for over 20 years.

The current exhibition provides the viewer a window into the past two years when artists have gone through trying times when they were unable to exibit their art or participate in exhibitions as well as went through personal tragedies and losses due to the uncertain situation prevailing all over the world. Despite upheavals in their own lives, they have created art that reflects not just the hapless plight of many but also bring rays of hope for the world.

The artworks on display were brimming with emotions and most of the participating artists said their talent was a gift from God to express their innermost feelings and thoughts without giving up hope.
