The Supreme Committee in charge of dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic has decided to impose a ban on movement of people and vehicles, and ordered the closure of all public places and commercial activities from 8pm to 4am starting Sunday until further notice.
The decision allows home delivery services and exempts essential activities excluded from similar bans announced earlier, the Supreme Committee stated.
The committee reaffirmed that all health sector establishments, led by the Ministry of Health, are resolute in their effort to continue implementing the National Immunisation Campaign against COVID-19 in accordance with the pre-set stages and segments.
The committee urged all target groups to take the initiative and get vaccinated to protect themselves, their families and the community from COVID-19. It appreciated the commitment of individuals in society and across different establishments to the precautionary measures aimed at curbing the spread of the disease.
It expressed deep concern at the indifference of some individuals who continue to hold gatherings in stark violation of the approved procedures. The committee warned that the concerned departments are firm in undertaking punitive action.
