Oman continues to battle the COVID-19 pandemic with daily cases going up considerably again. The sultanate recorded 4,415 new cases for a three-day period over the weekend, which is highest till date. The country also recorded the highest number of deaths – 45 – for the three-day period that ended on June 12.
With the rise in new cases, hospitals are reeling under pressure. The sultanate currently has the highest number of inpatients and intensive care admissions – 1,180 and 374 respectively.
‘The total number of cases registered in the sultanate has now reached 234,634, including 2,513 deaths,’ the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in statement on Sunday. The total number of recoveries is 210,952, taking the recovery rate down to 90 per cent.
‘In a 24-hour period on Sunday, 153 were admitted to hospitals.’
