Pact signed for Muscat to build GCC Statistics Centre premises

8 Jun 2021

H E Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, on Tuesday received Dr Nayef Falah al Hajraf, GCC Secretary General, who is currently visiting the sultanate.

The meeting discussed ways of upgrading the GCC coordination and boosting joint future projects.

During the meeting, an agreement on designating the premises of the GCC Statistics Centre was signed by Sayyid Badr on behalf of the Government of Oman while Dr Hajraf signed it on behalf of the GCC Secretariat General.

The fact that Muscat has been endorsed as venue for the GCC Statistics Centre reflects the sultanate’s keenness to promote joint GCC action.

The centre aims to build capacities of the GCC institutions to keep pace with modern statistical requirements.

It will also help develop joint working programmes, unify GCC national statistical strategies and standardise them in line with the best international practices and enhancing proper use of statistical data in making decisions and devising policies.
