Eight hundred and sixty-six new cases of COVID-19 and nine related deaths were reported on Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).
With these latest figures, the total number of cases in the sultanate now stands at 212,904 and the death toll 2,293. With a total of 196,355 COVID-19 patients recovering, the recovery rate is 92.2 per cent.
Ninety-one people were admitted to hospitals across the country during the 24 hour period, accounting for a total of 731 patients in health institutions, including 248 in intensive care units.
The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to the virus. ‘Everyday preventive actions like washing hands frequently with soap and avoiding close contact with people who are sick are recommended to help arrest the spread of the virus. Those who are suspected of having the virus should visit the nearest health centre and avoid crowds, and if confirmed sick, should isolate at home for 14 days,’ the MoH said.
