General Education Diploma (GED) – Grade 12 – students will be immunised with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine starting Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).
An MoH official said, “Vaccination centres in all governorates are ready. We urge parents to encourage their children to get vaccinated to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.”
In a statement on Monday, MoH said that OMIFCO has donated US$1mn to support the efforts of the ministry to purchase and provide COVID-19 vaccines in the country.
MoH has also announced that citizens working in neighbouring countries need not pay fee RO6 for electronic tracking bracelets while entering Oman through land borders. This decision came into effect on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Health on Tuesday reported 817 new cases of COVID-19 and ten related deaths.
This takes the total number of cases in Oman to 212,038 and death toll to 2,284.
The ministry stated that 285 patients recovered in this period, accounting for a total of 195,720 recoveries.
One hundred and nine COVID-19 patients were hospitalised in the 24-hour period, accounting for a total 709 admitted in health institutions, including 243 in intensive care units.
