Vaccination of General Education Diploma (GED) – Grade 12 – students in all governorates of the sultanate will begin on Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).
In a statement, it said, ‘In coordination with the Ministry of Education, MoH announces the commencement of the immunisation campaign against COVID-19 for GED or Grade 12 students on May 26.’
The campaign will be conducted in coordination with the Directorate Generals of Health Services and Directorate Generals of Education. Immunisation centres have been designated for each governorate.
The target group for this vaccination drive includes all Grade 12 students in government and private schools, teaching staff of GED, members of examination committees, observers and workers in examination centres besides examiners. Workers of evaluation and correction centres have been included in the target group.
The campaign targets 75,725 individuals, the MoH stated.
The Ministry of Health on Monday reported 857 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total in Oman to 211,221. Nine deaths were reported on the day, totalling 2,274. The total number of recoveries is 195,435, accounting for a recovery rate of 93 per cent.
Eighty-six individuals were admitted to hospitals on Monday across the country, taking the total number of inpatients to 685, including 237 in intensive care units.
