The number of expatriate workers has declined by 218,000 or 13 per cent in March as compared to the corresponding month last year.
The data issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) shows a remarkable decrease in the number of expatriate workers in the government and private sectors of the sultanate.
According to NCSI, the number of expatriates working in the government sector fell to 40,898 in March this year compared to 53,332 in March last year.
In the same period, the workers in the private sector declined to 1,403,287 compared to 1,608,781.
