In efforts to ensure compliance with the sultanate’s laws to protect wildlife, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR) has conducted several campaigns in Dhofar.
A ministry official informed that the Supervision Team of the Public Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock in the Governorate of Dhofar has monitored businesses in some locations in the wilayat of Salalah that sell pet animals and birds.
“The team recorded several violations at pet stores and urged others to adhere to the guidelines necessary to engage in activities related to wildlife. Owners of these businesses have been notified of their offences and legal action initiated against them,” the MAFWR official said.
“The ministry calls on pet shop owners to maintain hygiene, ensure proper ventilation, do regular disinfection, provide adequate space to animals, and keep animal feed in clean and dry storage facilities,” he added.
