15 May 2021

The Government of Oman dispatched special medical assistance for India’s fight against COVID-19 on May 12 aboard a Royal Air Force (RAFO) aircraft.

‘The Government of India expresses its deep gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and the government and people of Oman for their support to India during this difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic,’ a press release from the Indian Embassy in Oman stated.

‘India welcomes and deeply appreciates the essential medical supplies of ventilators, SPO2 monitors and medicines gifted by the sultanate. This gesture is a testament to the very close and longstanding strategic partnership between India and Oman.’

The embassy further added that India is also grateful to the Indian diaspora in Oman for their support and contributions in the form of 30 oxygen concentrators and 100 oxygen cylinders, which were also airlifted aboard the RAFO plane.

‘In line with our historical and  friendly ties, India is committed to further strengthening  bilateral relations with Oman, not only in fighting this global pandemic together, but in all areas of mutual interest,’ the statement added.
