The Cultural Section at the Embassy of Japan in Muscat has called for applications for the Japanese government (MEXT: Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) scholarships for 2022.
The scholarships are open for postgraduate studies; there is no restriction on the field of study as long as it is related to the applicant’s major. The studies will begin at a Japanese university from April/September or October 2022.
Applicants need to be Omani nationals born on or after April 2, 1987, must hold a Bachelor’s degree and be willing to learn Japanese and deepen their understanding of Japan, according to a statement from the embassy.
The application form and guidelines can be download at https://www.studyinjapan.go.jp/en/smap_stopj-applications_ research.html
The application needs to be submitted with the necessary documents by hand or by post on or before June 5.
Shortlisted candidates will be announced by June 15. This will be followed by a primary screening (conducted by the embassy) of documents, a written examination (third week of June), interview (fourth week of June) and final screening conducted by MEXT.
Applicants who do not speak Japanese can also apply for the scholarship as the selected candidates will be attending a Japanese language course at a designated university for a six-month period in the initial period on the scholarship programme.
