Oman’s experienced referee Turki al Salehi has been picked by world football governing body to officiate at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2021 in Russia.
The tenth edition of the World Cup will be held in Moscow from August 19-29. This will be the second World Cup for Salehi, who previously officiated at the 2015 edition in Portugal. Besides officiating at the World Cup, the Omani referee has also supervised matches at the Asian Beach Soccer Championships in 2019, Asian Beach Games in 2010 and 2014 and the Intercontinental Cup in 2019.
Oman beach soccer team, under coach Talib Hilal, has also made it to the Russia World Cup along with Japan and the UAE. The three teams were selected on ranking of point system after the cancellation of AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup 2021 due to the pandemic. For Oman, this will be their fourth appearance at the global showpiece tournament.
