The Mudhaibi Charity Team has distributed 700 food baskets this Ramadan in the wilayat of Mudhaibi, North Sharqiyah, in the month of charity.
Operating under the umbrella of the Committee for Social Development in the Ministry of Social Development in Mudhaibi, the team comprises 73 volunteers.
Started in 2011, the team currently has several charity programmes running under the slogan ‘Ramadan…Aiyam Madudat’.
Speaking to Muscat Daily, Issa Ahmed Salem al Hashimi, head of the team’s finance committee, informed that the 700 food baskets distributed this Ramadan among needy families, families with limited income and expat workers include rice, oil and flour.
The charity team’s primary objective is to encourage voluntarism in community welfare work to alleviate the sufferings of the underprivileged.
Additionally, it sponsors 440 orphans, looking after their nutritional needs. And in efforts to improve the living standard of social security families, the team has built or done maintenance work on 204 houses to date.
The team is currently focused on its efforts to make Eid al Fitr special for the underprivileged in the wilayat. “We will offer Eid clothes and some money,” Hashimi said.
Concurrently, it has an initiative through which it gives school bags to children of needy families that include all the stationery they need in an academic year.
The team has received financial support from several individuals and companies to carry out its work and further seeks the cooperation of other volunteer teams and communities in Mudhaibi to help the poor.
“We thank all the individuals and companies that have supported us with money and food items,” said Hashimi.
