CPA chairman visits Dakhliyah, urges suppliers to abide by VAT

The chairman of the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) visited a number of shops in Dakhliyah governorate on Thursday. The visit was aimed to ensure that the value-added tax (VAT) is properly applied in the markets.

The CPA said, ‘Sulayem bin Ali al Hikmani, chairman of the Consumer Protection Authority, visited a number of shopping centres and shops in Dakhliyah, as part of his field visits to the various markets with the aim of ensuring that the VAT is properly applied. It is also to ensure the extent of market stability after the implementation of the tax and that there are no violations in the application of the tax that affect the rights of consumers.’

Hikmani urged suppliers on the importance of continuing their cooperation with the authority and its cadres in order to maintain a safe market for all, and for them to assume their responsibilities towards the homeland and society. 

He also urged them to adhere to the standards of credibility and transparency, and to pay attention to the quality of goods and to apply VAT on goods and services in a proper manner.
