Oman-Saudi meet discusses trade exchange

H E Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Oman’s Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion held a meeting with Dr Majid Abdullah al Qasabi, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Commerce on Sunday.

The meeting, held via video-conferencing, saw participation of H H Sayyid Faisal Turki al Said, sultanate’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and Aseela Salim al Samsami, investment promotion undersecretary.

The meeting discussed means of improving trade exchange between the two brotherly countries through exploring investment opportunities and exchanging expertise. The ministers also reviewed Saudi Arabia’s experience in e-commerce and regulating e-commerce.

The two sides discussed ways of supporting small and medium businesses particularly in e-commerce and increasing trade exchange between the two countries.

H E Yousef said that steps are underway to organise a meeting between Omani and Saudi businessmen through the chambers of commerce and industry in the two countries and through the councils of Omani and Saudi businessmen.

During the meeting, it was agreed to form a team from the two sides to identify priorities that would support the trade exchange between Oman and Saudi Arabia.
