The nationwide immunisation campaign against COVID-19 is gaining momentum with nearly 200,000 individuals vaccinated to date.
Since the beginning of this week, many people have been queuing up daily from early morning at the new vaccination centres in Muttrah, Bausher, Amerat and Quriyat waiting for their shots.
To cater to the rising number of queries on vaccinations, the Ministry of Health (MoH) has launched a helpline (1144) for updates on the immunisation campaign in Muscat governorate. ‘The directorate receives all your queries regarding the vaccination centres in the Governorate of Muscat on the number 1144 from 9am to 2pm throughout Ramadan, every day except on Fridays and Saturdays,’ an MoH statement said.
On Monday, MoH announced 1,399 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total number in the sultanate to 181,430. The total number of deaths has gone to 1,890 after 12 succumbed to the virus on Monday.
As of Monday, a total of 818 patients were in health institutions, including 265 in intensive care.
There were 1,346 recoveries accounting for a total of 161,670 recovered patients. With this, the recovery rate now stands at 89 per cent.
MoH advises all citizens and residents to continue taking precautionary measures such as wearing face masks, maintaining social distancing, washing hands with water and soap, avoid touching the face, nose, mouth and eyes, and follow healthy habits when coughing and sneezing.
