The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion has started receiving ‘Busoor’ date crop for the year 2020 from all governorates.

The process, which began on April 11, will run till May 13. The ministry said it will receive Mabsali, Madlouki and Abu Naranja dates from all governorates at its storage facility in Wadi Kabir.

The harvesting season (or Al Tabseel) of Mabsali and other varieties of dates has started across governorates in the sultanate. Mabsali dates are boiled when yellow in colour and called Busoor.

The ministry said its warehouses in Wadi Kabir receive Busoor every year from all over the sultanate. It also provides support to farmers supplying their crops and gives subsidies for farmers who export their Busoor production to encourage them to find alternative and new markets.

The ministry has urged farmers to pay attention to the quality of date products they supply to the ministry or export directly to foreign markets. They should take care of cleanliness and keep these free of impurities to maintain the reputation and compete in local and foreign markets.

The ministry, in partnership with Oman Dates Production and Packing Company, carries out the handling, processing, marketing and sale of the harvest.
