The sultanate was selected as a supervisor state for the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy during the United Nations (UN) General Assembly meetings held on Thursday.
Oman was represented at the session by H E Dr Mohammed Awadh al Hassan, Permanent Representative of the sultanate to the UN.
The sultanate is often credited for its moderate political stance, which is based on principles of peaceful coexistence, rejection of violence and extremism and advocacy of diplomacy of peace.
The UN General Assembly’s meetings saw the participation of member states, regional and international organisations, civil society institutions and a selection of high-ranking international officials.
