17 Mar 2021 By SHADDAD AL MUSALMY

One year on since the Supreme Committee tasked with tackling the impact of COVID-19 was formed, Muscat Daily dug into its photo archives to chronicle the meetings and decisions to steer the country through the pandemic.

On March 10, 2020, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik issued orders to form the Supreme Committee to monitor the developments arising as a result of the spread of the coronavirus as well as the regional and global efforts to fight the disease.

Following its formation, the committee developed appropriate solutions, proposals and recommendations on the basis of the results of the general health assessment.

Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, chaired the first meeting of the committee on March 12, 2020, at the Ministry of Interior when he informed that the spread of the disease had the keen attention of His Majesty the Sultan reflecting his concern for the health and safety of all citizens and residents alike.

During the meeting, the committee discussed various aspects of handling the pandemic in the time ahead and the necessary precautions and recommendations to ensure the health of the people and continuity of the nation’s economy.

These images also capture the sights and scenes in the country, Muscat in particular, resulting from the implementation of the Supreme Committee’s directives.
