The Ministry of Health (MoH), represented by the Directorate General of Health Services of Muscat Governorate (DGHS – Muscat), on Wednesday started home visit services for vaccination against COVID-19 for the target groups that are registered in the community health programme.
‘The number of those in the target groups was counted by the community health programme nurses before starting the vaccination drive. A team has been prepared with the required equipment to complete the vaccination process,’ MoH said in a statement.
The home vaccination programme will cover wilayats of Muscat, starting with Muttrah. The programme will be extended to other governorates soon.
‘The goal of the home service is to vaccinate the largest target group in the community against COVID-19,’ the MoH statement added.
As of Wednesday, 90,525 individuals had been vaccinated.
548 new cases reported
On Wednesday, MoH announced 548 new cases of COVID-19, taking the total to 148,558. There were three deaths and 516 recoveries in this period.
‘The number of recoveries has increased to 137,544, while the number of deaths has reached 1,617,’ an MoH statement said, adding that the rate of recovery now stands at 93 per cent.
As of Wednesday, a total of 291 patients were admitted in health institutions, including 82 patients in intensive care.
