A high-profile virtual meeting of the GCC Economic and Development Affairs Authority was held on Tuesday with the participation of representatives from the ministries of Economy and Finance, and the private sector in the GCC countries.
As per a statement, the meeting discussed a number of issues including the Gulf Customs Union, the Unified GCC Market and the initiatives to reach economic unity among the GCC states by 2025.
The meeting came in response to the recommendations of the GCC Ministers of Finance and Economy, members of the Permanent Ministerial Preparatory Committee of the Supreme Commission for Economic and Development Affairs to hold meetings for the undersecretaries to evaluate the initiatives and projects listed in the roadmap for the GCC economic unity.
The sultanate’s delegation headed by H E Dr Nasser bin Rashid al Mawali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy, included representatives from the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, Ministry of Finance, and the Royal Oman Police represented by the Directorate General of Customs.
