Businesses operating in logistics and transportation will now be able to enter Qatar via Saudi Arabia’s Al Salwa land border, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) has announced.
In a statement, OCCI said, ‘The chamber has received a letter from the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Infor- mation Technology confirming that customs at the Saudi Salwa border is ready to receive Omani commercial trucks.’
Saudi customs at the Salwa border crossing with Qatar resumed operations on January 9. A coronavirus health centre has also been set up at Salwa.
Trade links with Qatar reopened following Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahra-in and Egypt formally restoring ties with Doha after more than three years of a boycott. The resumption of ties was announced at a historic GCC summit in Alula, Saudi Arabia, on January 5.
