A total of 10,867 individuals have registered for institutional quarantine in 427 approved centres so far, according to Hamoud bin Mohammed al Mundhiri, spokesman of the Ministry of Social Development’s Relief and Shelter Sector.
Speaking to Muscat Daily, Mundhiri said, “The 10,867 people are registered for institutional quarantine in centres in different governorates. The number may vary in coming days. Teams of the Relief and Shelter Sector are continuously working to receive passengers returning from abroad. Travellers are received and screened to make sure they are free of any symptoms of COVID-19.”
He informed that passengers are instructed to go directly to the chosen centre for institutional quarantine; they are free to arrange their transport or coordinate with the hotel to provide transportation.
“There are conditions that must be met during transportation of the passenger, such as social distancing within the vehicle and appropriate ventilation,” Mundhiri said.
Relief and Shelter Sector teams also visit quarantine centres to monitor compliance.
