RO300 fine for violations related to bracelets

27 Feb 2021

The fine for tempering with or violating electronic tracking bracelets rules is RO300, according to Maj Mohammed al Hashmi, director of public relations at Royal Oman Police.

“We urge all segments of society, commercial sectors and private institutions to cooperate and commit to the decisions of the Supreme Committee. The public must wear masks and not gather to curb the spread of COVID-19. The Inspector General of Police and Customs has listed penalties for gatherings; an invitation to a gathering issued by any individual will draw a fine of RO1,500, and every participant in such gatherings will be fined RO100,” Maj Hashmi said.

The ROP has activated an operations centre and a toll-free number – 1099 – to report COVID-19 violations.

“We call on the public to report any violation related to the decisions of the Supreme Committee. The police can easily reach people in violation of institution quarantine even if the electronic bracelet is removed,” Maj Hashmi said.
