Staff accommodation can be used for isolation

Companies and private institutions can use their own employee accommodation to provide mandatory institutional quarantine but need to follow  guidelines including providing a single room for the quarantined person with toilet for a period of seven days.

The Government Communication Centre (GCC) said on Thursday that there are conditions that need to be followed. 

‘They include providing catering services for daily basic meals for the isolated worker at the place of residence in disposable containers, laundry service, and transportation from Muscat International Airport to the company’s isolation site at company’s expenses,’ the GCC said. There is also need for allocating a specific place at the company’s isolation site to conduct the second PCR test and to remove the bracelet at the company’s account by coordinating with one of the private health institutions accredited to the General Directorate of Private Health Institutions of the Ministry of Health to conduct the PCR test.

There is also need for commitment to providing precautionary tools (masks, disinfectants, cleaning materials, sterilisers, etc).

‘Installing devices (Rassed) from the company (e-mushrif) at the company’s account and allocating a separate reception desk at the institutional isolation site to manage the site is also needed. This is in addition to installing thermal cameras at the main entrances to places of health institutional isolation.’

Companies wishing to do so need to submit a request for approval to the Director General of Social Development’s Relief and Shelter Sector which will issue a declaration of approval to activate the institutional health isolation of the company/ institution.
