The residents of Musandam have expressed their gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for the Royal Directives issued for the implementation of the much-needed Diba-Lima-Khasab road project by finding alternative routes.
“The Diba-Lima-Khasab Road represents a vital artery connecting the wilayats of Musandam governorate with each other,” said Raed bin Mohammed al Shuhi, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Musandam branch of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI).
“The project will constitute a qualitative step in the logistical sector, as all the governorates’ ports will be linked by land, and will be a shift in maritime transport and integration between the governorates.”
Shuhi said that the road once completed “will help visitors easily access many tourist sites” and that it “will provide the opportunity to develop quality projects, whether in residential facilities or adventure projects”.
“The project will also provide an opportunity to support the capabilities of the local private sector through the Musandam International Investment Company,” he said.
Nasser al Hosni, director of the Happy Line Transport company, said, “The project will create opportunities for a lot of tourism and economic activities, save time and money, and bring a lot of investments to Musandam.”
“The road will also play a vital role in connecting villages and wilayats of Musandam governorate, easing traffic, facilitating the movement of inhabitants and serving the overall goals of development and economic prosperity in the sultanate,” he said, adding that “it will also improve connectivity among all the wilayats of the sultanate”.
Khasab resident Abdul Aziz al Shuhi said, “We are pleased with the Royal Directives for the implementation of the project.”
“The road will play a major role in linking the villages of Khasab with the rest of the governorates,” he said.
“It will make transportation of goods between the wilayats of the governorate easy and give a fillip to domestic tourism in the governorate.
“The road will also facilitate the people of Diba to reach the centre of the governorate and take advantage of the vital facilities such as the hospital, the airport and other services. It will make it easier for employees to reach their workplaces and transportation between the governorates.”
Nasser al Kamzari, another citizen from Khasab, said, “The project will open new areas for urban and economic development, stimulate tourism and facilitate movement between the wilayats and villages of the governorate.”
He added, “We extend our sincere thanks and prayers for the long life of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for issuing orders to implement the road project.”
