The Ministry of Labour (MoL) on Sunday launched the Khibrat programme to train jobseekers, aimed at providing them with the necessary competencies for various jobs in the governorates of Muscat, North and South Batinah, Dakhliyah and South Sharqiyah.
To begin with, 500 jobseekers would be trained in the first batch of Khibrat – a collaboration between different ministries that envisages enhancing the employability and skills of higher diploma holders and graduates.
The programme will also prepare them for work by ensuring their resumes are ‘fit for the purpose’, beside preparing them for job interviews.
Soft skills, including time management, working as part of a team, work ethics and communication skills will also be honed during the five-day intensive programme. This is to ensure that the trainees understand, adhere to and can demonstrate these key soft skills once in the workplace across the various industry sectors.
Private companies have been encouraged by the ministry to take advantage of the Khibrat initiative which offers a stipended training programme for young Omanis looking for employment and further career development.
