Holders Seeb huffed and puffed their way to a narrow 1-0 victory on Monday as they staved off a determined Rustaq fight at the Seeb Sports Stadium.
The win ensured the defending champions continue to remain on top of the 2020-21 Omantel League standings after six rounds with 16 points.
The all-important goal of the match was scored by Seeb’s striker Abdulaziz al Miqbali.
In the other early match of the day, Sohar defeated Muscat 2-1 at the Sohar Sports Complex.
Al Mussanah will have a chance to climb to third spot later on Monday night when they take on Oman at the Rustaq Sports Complex.
Also in a late game, promoted Nizwa will be looking for their second win of the season at home against Bahla.
Chasing Seeb on the points table are four-time champions Al Suwaiq and 11-time winners Dhofar who have 13 and 12 points respectively after six rounds.
Al Mussanah have ten points ahead of their game against Oman while Rustaq despite the defeat on Monday against the champions are placed fifth with nine points after registering three wins and three losses.
Five-time champions Al Nasr, who lost their game on Sunday, are sixth with eight while Oman have seven points, the same as Sohar, but with a game in hand.
