Expats staying outside Oman for over 180 days need new visas

12 Jan 2021

Expats with valid residency who stay away from the sultanate for a period exceeding 180 days at a stretch can’t re-enter Oman, according to the Royal Oman Police (ROP). A new visa application has to be made to return.

Speaking to Muscat Daily, an ROP official said, “We provided facilities for renewal of visas for expatriates who were outside the sultanate and could not return due to the COVID-19 outbreak and consequent closure of airports. But airports and flights have resumed operations since. ROP, in cooperation with Civil Aviation Authority, will not allow any resident whose period of stay outside the sultanate exceeds 180 days to enter Oman.”

He informed that the ROP began implementing the decision since the beginning of January 2021.
