10 Jan 2021

The Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) Museum is displaying the vehicle – a Land Rover – and the cannon cart that carried the body of the Late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

The SAF Museum also obtained an original copy of the letter written by the Late Sultan Qaboos which was addressed to the Royal Family council through the Defence Council, which contained the name of his successor.

Additionally, the SAF Museum displays the Saidi aumama (turban) and khanjar (dagger) in the Sultan Qaboos Hall on the premises of the SAF Museum in Bait al Falaj Fort.

The SAF Museum was opened on December 11, 1988, under the patronage of the Late Sultan Qaboos. It features an overview of Oman’s military history through its different stages.

The museum also showcases a number of weapons and pictures as well as ancient documents and manuscripts.
