The Royal Oman Police (ROP) will celebrate on Tuesday its Annual Day, which falls on January 5 every year.
ROP has been striving to keep pace with the developments taking place in the sultanate in all fields to provide a security umbrella, and protect the rights and liberties of citizens and residents.
In the last few years, ROP made huge strides, applying scientific strategies to keep pace with the changes. This has enabled ROP to handle all forms of crime and protect members of the public.
With praise from the United Nations, ROP contributed to the sultanate to be ranked 50th in the world and fifth in the Arab world in the electronic transformation of governments. ROP has achieved success in providing quality and integrated electronic services to citizens, residents and visitors alike, using the latest technologies to provide service through its website and its applications on smart phones and self-service devices.
During the past year, the General Administration for Combatting Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances implemented operations against a number of smuggling and drug trafficking networks. The sultanate achieved ‘zero terrorism’ for the eighth consecutive year, according to the Global Terrorism Index in the World 2020.
