The total number of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) registered with the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Riyada) at the end of November 2020 stood at 47,820.
It was an increase of 13.4 per cent compared to the same period of 2019, according to data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Among the governorates, Muscat topped the list with a 13.6 per cent increase in SMEs registered till the end of November 2020, compared to November 2019, followed by North Batinah with 13.4 per cent, Dakhliyah with 12.5 per cent, Dhofar with 12.2 per cent, and the rest of the governorates with 48.3 per cent.
The Governorate of Muscat had 16,024 SMEs registered at the end of November 2020, followed by North Batinah with 7,536, Dakhliyah with 6,040, Dhofar with 3,979, South Batinah with 3,562, and North Sharqiyah with 3,214 SMEs registered. This was followed by South Sharqiyah with 2,827, Dhahirah with 2,786 SMEs, and Buraimi with 1,025 SMEs registered.
Al Wusta had 625 SMEs registered and Musandam had 184.
‘The total number of SMEs registered with the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Riyada) at the end of October 2020 stood at 47,220, while the number of SMEs in September was 46,577,’ NCSI stated.
