Following claims that there aren’t enough environment-friendly reusable bags available in the local market, the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has assured that plenty of options are available at nominal prices. The authority added that it will monitor markets to ensure prices are not hiked. 

In a statement, the CPA said, ‘Alternative bags are available in markets and shops. These bags are made of paper, fabric or cotton. Bags made of organic materials are also available at nominal prices.’

The CPA said that these type of bags can be used multiple  times, stressing that it will monitor markets to ensure the prices of the bags are not raised. 

‘The Consumer Protection Authority calls on all suppliers to abide by the laws and regulations to protect consumers,’ it said.
