None of my business

2 Jan 2021

Just not superheroes and villains, everyone has – or would like to have – an alter ego to give vent to their wild dreams. If nothing, it helps take the mind off endless deadlines, commitments, cut-throat competition or just everyday banality.

Up close & personal

‘NONE OF MY BUSINESS’ unveils people who make news as they’re prodded to reveal little known facets of themselves – everything not related to their work and profession.

Here is Tariq Hilal al Barwani, IT expert and ethical hacker, up close and personal.

Friends or food – what would you opt for in a lazy evening?

None. In lazy moments, I tend to sleep and rest for all the hard work that I do.

What are the full forms of ATM and CDM?

It depends on the industry you are asking. If it is banking then it is Automated Teller Machine and for the construction sector it is Construction Design Management.

Mohamed Salah or Roger Federer? Why?

I love soccer, so I will go for Salah.

What were you doing 10 years from now?

I was busy building the Iron Man that you see today. There were failures but I never ever let them affect me.

Name the song on love, an ocean, a huge ship, a poor boy and a rich girl.

I am not so much into music but if you say it is a big ship then all I right now think is of course it is My heart will go on from the film Titanic.

Why does black coffee taste better without sugar and milk?

It really depends on who is going to drink it. But if you are on a diet, better avoid sugar. Generally it tastes good either ways.

Who said veni, vidi, vici?

Definitely not me!

[‘I came; I saw; I conquered’ is a Latin phrase popularly attributed to Julius Caesar]

Say any dialogue from a film in your mother tongue?

Hakuna matata and it means ‘no worries’ from the film The Lion King.

Name an Indian dish in Oman you love to have when happy.

There are many Indian dishes that I love but right now all I can think of is Hyderabadi biryani. It tastes good and delicious, and takes me to the days when I was in Hyderabad representing Oman at an international event.

Why does a fan have three blades?

I think it has to do with circulation, efficiency and cooling of air.

Why is the moon in different shapes?

The moon is not in different shapes. It changes shape because of the rotation of the earth and how the sun lights the moon.
