The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) said on Wednesday that those wishing to conduct surveys or public polls must obtain prior approval to avoid legal accountability.
NCSI said, ‘In the recent period, it has been observed that unknown parties have conducted public polls of the Omani community. Hereafter, the National Centre for Statistics and Information would like to draw the attention of citizens and residents that it did not assign any other party to carry out public opinion polls or communicate with community members.’
‘Those who wish to conduct statistical surveys or public opinion polls or communicate with the public in any way for the purpose of collecting information or data must obtain prior approval from the centre (NCSI) to avoid legal accountability,’ it added.
Those wishing to do so can request an implementation form by accessing the electronic portal of the centre (www.ncsi.gov.om) and following the steps: Select e-services, choose a survey or survey request form and fill in the data.
NCSI urges citizens and residents not to provide any private information or data to anonymous parties.
