As many as 3,363 people have been injected with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in the first phase of the national COVID-19 vaccination campaign in three days, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).
Statistics indicate that Muscat governorate recorded the highest number of people who were vaccinated (821 recipients), followed by North Batinah recording the vaccination of 818 people, South Batinah – 295, South Sharqiyah – 254, and Buraimi – 248.
Dakhliyah recorded the vaccination of 225 people, Dhahirah – 213, North Sharqiyah – 174, Dhofar – 162, Musandam – 114, and Al Wusta – 41.
‘Target groups in the community include the elderly who are 65 years of age and older with diabetes, those with kidney failure and who are on dialysis, those with chronic lung diseases including chronic obstructive pulmonary syndrome, asthma (with the severity of the disease varying between medium and high) as well as those with interstitial lung disease,’ said the ministry.
Meanwhile, MoH has announced additional places and times for vaccination in Muscat governorate.
‘The timings for vaccination at Seeb Specialist Complex, Bausher Specialist Complex, Amerat Health Centre, Muscat Health Centre, Ma’abela Health Centre and North Al Khuwayr Health Centre are from Sunday to Thursday from 7.30am to 8.30pm and on Friday and Saturday from 9.30am to 3.30pm,’ MoH statement said.
‘The vaccination times at Quriyat Health Complex and Ruwi Health Centre are from Sunday to Thursday from 7.30am to 2pm,’ it added.
