Strict action, including jail term and fine, will be levied on anyone who prevents the flow of natural water from its sources.
Penalties are imposed by the Public Prosecution keeping in mind the rights of civilians.
‘Covering water wells, aflaj or water channels designated for irrigation or committing any act that prevents the flow of water from its sources is an offence,’ the Public Prosecution said. ‘The offence is punishable by imprisonment for a period of up to three years and a fine of up to RO1,000 or one of the two,’ it added.
