Prominent corporate leader Maqbool al Saleh has donated RO5,000 to Dar al Atta’a in support of the charity’s work in the community. With the release of his memoirs A Long Walk – Memories of Life in November, Maqbool had pledged to donate all proceeds from his book sales to charity in dedication to Oman’s 50th year of the renaissance. This is the first of more donations that he expects to make to society.
Handing over the donation to Hon Maryam al Zadjali, chairperson of Dar al Atta’a, Saleh said, “I am delighted to present this donation to Dar al Atta’a, a voluntary organisation that is dedicated to the community providing the less privileged in society with basics that secure them a decent living. I appreciate their good work, and wish them well in their noble efforts. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have bought the book. I hope you have enjoyed reading and sharing my experiences and thoughts.”
Receiving the donation, Hon Maryam said, “We express our thanks and appreciation to Saleh for his contribution. His life’s work has been encapsulated in his memoirs, and that he has chosen to donate the proceeds to charity is humbling and remarkable. Dar al Atta’a celebrates our association with Saleh and we wish him the very best.”
A Long Walk – Memories of Life presents a personal account of Saleh’s long and inspiring journey from humble beginnings to success, recounting a multitude of interesting experiences and defining moments that shaped his life through a long journey.
The book is available at leading bookstores across Oman, including Borders, WH Smith, Al Fair/Spinneys Supermarkets, and Souq of Oman at Muscat International Airport, priced RO10. Available in Arabic and English, all proceeds from sales will be donated to charity.
