MoH, WHO workshop discusses morbidity burden calculation

The Ministry of Health (MoH), represented by the Directorate General of Planning & Studies (DGPS), in cooperation with the World Health Organization, convened on Monday a virtual workshop on calculation of  morbidity burden.

The two-day workshop is being held under the auspices of H E Dr Fatma bint Mohammed al Ajmi, MoH Undersecretary for Administrative, Financial and Planning Affairs, along with the presence of WHO representative to the sultanate, and Dr Halima al Hinai, DGPS acting director general. A number of specialists from the ministry and  health sector are attending the workshop.

Dr Abdulaziz al Farsi, director of Information & Statistics, pointed out that the workshop aims to build national capacity in calculating, analysing and providing morbidity burden data at the national and governorate levels. Dr Maziar Moradi, an international expert, reviewed the calculation of indicators and measurements of morbidity burden including the number of missed years of early death and number of years that the individual lives with disability. The expert reviewed the mechanisms and methods used for calculating the indicator, life tables and demographic indicators.
