Know the law: Three-year jail for stealing from communication, energy services

19 Dec 2020

Those who fraudulently use services related to communication (home, office broadband) and energy (electricity, gas, fuel and water) will face strict action, including imprisonment.

The Public Prosecution said that whoever ‘steals from services such as water, electricity, fuel, gas, communication or the like, shall be sentenced to imprisonment for a period of three years’.

The measure has been taken after multiple complaints from civilians.

‘Public Prosecution stands for the rights of people and always takes ample measures to curb any sort of injustice and inconvenience to the civilians,’ it added.
