To enhance the safety of livestock and their products, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources is continuing its campaign to vaccinate livestock in Sinaw in the wilayat of Mudhaibi.
The ministry’s veterinary team has visited 454 breeders and vaccinated 32,917 animals (goats, sheep, cows and camels) with a total of 57,363 doses against diseases including intestinal poisoning, foot-and-mouth disease and rabies.
An official in the ministry said, “The campaign aims to immunise livestock, reduce infection and prevent common disease transmission between animals and human beings. The programme also aims to provide vaccination to the largest number to protect herds from epidemics, including plague, smallpox and foot-and-mouth disease that cause great economic losses for livestock farmers,” he explained.
“Specialists will continue to provide services such as treating and vaccinating animals, providing veterinary medicines, and creating awareness among breeders through field visits and holding lectures, in order to enhance and sustain the local animal production,” the official said.
