Quarantine not required for tourists

12 Dec 2020

Tourists arriving in the sultanate don’t need a pre-departure PCR test or quarantine period if the COVID-19 test done upon arrival in Oman is negative.

As per a decision of the Supreme Committee, which included permission to issue tourist visas, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism announced the following:

Steps to follow

  • Tourists have been exempted from COVID-19 PCR test. However, they should be covered by compulsory international health insurance including the cost of treating the disease.
  • Tourists should take the test upon arrival at the sultanate’s airports.
  • Tourists should have an advanced hotel or tourist resort booking and return flight ticket.
  • Tourists will undergo health isolation at the tourist facility where they have booked reservation until a negative result appears.
  • Tourists arriving through land borders are required to present a negative certificate of COVID-19 test conducted within 72 hours of entering the sultanate.
