MoSD launches aquatic therapy unit for people with disability

As part of its efforts to support people with disability, the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD), represented by the Directorate of Persons with Disabilities, inaugurated Aquatic Therapy Unit at Al Aman Rehabilitation Centre recently.

The inaugural ceremony was held under the auspices of H E Laila bint Ahmed bin Awadh al Najar, Minister of Social Development.

The unit contributes to developing and improving the movement capabilities of various physical disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder and Down’s syndrome.

Aquatic therapy is a physical therapy that takes place in a pool or other aquatic environment. 

The centre has about 300 people who benefit from the unit’s programmes.
