H E Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of Oman, and Dr S Jaishankar, Indian External Affairs Minister, held a virtual meeting on Wednesday.
The ministers had extensive discussions on bilateral, regional and multilateral issues.
Jaishankar conveyed greetings on the occasion of the 50th National Day of Oman’s renaissance. He thanked H E Sayyid Badr and the Government of Oman for the support to the Indian community and excellent cooperation during COVID-19.
Both sides agreed to continue working closely to address the ongoing challenges arising from the pandemic.
“Glad to have a productive call with my friend Dr S Jaishankar to follow up on our excellent and growing bilateral relations,” said H E Sayyid Badr.
“We also discussed bilateral and global health cooperation, food security, regional and international issues,” he added.
The Indian minister and H E Sayyid Badr reviewed cooperation in key areas of India-Oman strategic partnership viz defence and security, economic cooperation, capacity building and training, consular issues and people-to-people ties.
They noted the huge potential for expanding economic partnership given the strong complementaries between the two economies. They emphasised the importance of health and food security and the ability of the partnership of both countries to address them.
