As part of its efforts to promote investment, and set up development projects in Khasab port, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in Khasab in cooperation with Marafi, last week held a virtual meeting.
Raed bin Mohammed al Shuhi, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Musandam branch of OCCI, and Dr Ahmed al Abri, CEO of Marafi, participated in the meeting.
Speaking to Muscat Daily, Shuhi said, “More than 45 people representing companies and institutions affiliated with the branch wishing to take advantage of the opportunities participated in the meeting. The meeting aimed to explain and clarify the mechanism and terms of contracts for those wishing to obtain the land offered for investment within the Khasab port.
The meeting reviewed the general plan of the project and the opportunities available in it according to the target sectors, besides reviewing the registration and competition mechanism to obtain these opportunities.”
Shuhi informed that the projects aim to attract companies to Khasab port and to create sustainable shipping and diversify opportunities, including manufacturing, refilling, storage, logistics and tourism.
He assured that priority will be given to the businesses affiliated with the Musandam branch of OCCI.

Khasab is one of the most important ports for cruise ships. It received 134,404 tourists onboard 63 cruise ships during the 2018-19 winter season.
