Massive change planned for Muscat governorate

H E Sayyid Saud bin Hilal bin Hamad al Busaidi, Minister of State and the Governor of Muscat, has issued Ministerial Decision No 72/2020 to form a committee to manage change in the Governorate of Muscat.

The decision confirmed that the committee will follow the progress of the change management process in the governorate and its administrative divisions with regard to several areas. They include strategic planning, restructuring, legislation, rescheduling of powers, re-engineering procedures, merging the main committees, changing the organisational culture, and other related fields.

The decision also stipulates that the committee will set the general foundations, prepare the change management plan, the timetable for the stages, and steps and procedures for implementing the outputs of the change plan. It will also ensure achievement of integration and harmonisation in the implementation of the change management procedures in all sectors according to a common vision.

The committee held its first meeting on Tuesday to discuss methods and mechanisms for implementing the tasks assigned to it. 

The committee approved the establishment of executive work teams to manage change, such as the information technology team, the planning team, the human resources team, the finance team, the administration and services team, the legal affairs team, and the media team.

H E Sayyid Busaidi recently issued Ministerial Decision No 66/2020 to form a working group to prepare a draft organisational structure for the governorate and its administrative divisions. These decisions are aimed at organising the work sectors in Muscat by achieving structural integration, improving performance, and developing work environment in line with the future aspirations of Oman Vision 2040.
