24 Oct 2020 By ONA

Dr Mahad bin Said bin Ali Ba’owain, Minister of Labour, issued a decision on Thursday declaring October 29, 2020, as an official holiday for employees of both public and private sector establishments.

The decision said: ‘To mark Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) birthday anniversary, it has been decided that 12 Rabee al Awal,  which falls on October 29, will be an official holiday for employees of units of the State’s Administrative Apparatus and establishments of the private sector.

‘Employers at private sector establishments may agree on terms to engage employees on the said holiday, if the nature of their work deems it necessary, provided they compensate the workers for the holiday.

‘We take this opportunity to greet His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, wishing him plentiful blessings. May Almighty Allah protect His Majesty the Sultan and guard him as a precious resource for this country.”
